Deal count plus industry. A buyer or recruiter knows what kind of seller this is before clicking.
-
SDR at a Series B fintech · Booked 310 qualified meetings in 2025 · Moving into a closing role next
The last phrase does real work: it tells AE hiring managers this person is ready for them.
-
Sales Director, Medical Devices · Built a 9-person team from scratch · Surgeons, hospital buyers and long sales cycles
Naming the buyer and the sales cycle means the wrong people self-select out.
-
I sell payroll software to restaurants. Ask me why owners hate switching, and how we make it painless.
No formula at all. It sounds like a person talking, and it practically asks for a reply.
Marketing

Under 100 characters, and still has role, proof and niche. Easy to scan in search results.
-
Lifecycle Marketer | Email, SMS and onboarding flows | I turn free trials into paying customers
The channel names are what people search for. The last phrase is what a CMO cares about.
-
Brand Strategist for consumer health startups · Positioning, naming and launch plans
Specialty and audience first, then three services a founder would actually buy.
-
Paid Social Lead · Managed $2M a year in ad spend · Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn Ads for DTC brands

Staff Engineer · I make slow systems fast and on-call boring · Platform and reliability
The middle has some personality, but the search terms sit safely on either side of it.
-
iOS Developer · 6 years in Swift · Apps for clinics and pharmacies · Open to remote roles
A recruiter can qualify this profile in a single read: years, language, domain, availability.
Product
-

One launch, one revenue number. That reads as ownership rather than “contributed to.”
-
Senior PM, Growth · Onboarding, activation and pricing experiments · Previously at Lumen Health
Hiring managers screen growth PMs by the problems they have worked on, so list the problems.
-
Technical Product Manager · Former backend engineer · APIs and developer tools
The past role answers the obvious question: can this PM keep up with engineers?
-
Head of Product at a 30-person startup · Hiring my first two PMs · Talk to me about early-stage product
Company size and an open role give readers a reason to reach out this week, not someday.
Design

Team size and three people-focused topics. The job has moved past pixels, and the headline says so.
Data

Specific models, and the type of company that needs them. Nothing extra.
-
Analytics Engineer · dbt, Snowflake · I build the tables your dashboards trust

Machine Learning Engineer · Search ranking and recommendations · Python, PyTorch, AWS
Problem area first, stack second. Recruiters type both into search.
HR and recruiting
-
Technical Recruiter · Hiring backend and data engineers for climate startups · DMs open
Candidates can tell instantly whether this recruiter hires for their skills. “DMs open” removes the hesitation.
-
HR Business Partner · Supporting 400 employees across 3 sites · Employee relations and performance
The numbers show the level of the role better than “Senior” would.
-
People Operations Manager · Onboarding, benefits and HR systems for remote-first teams
“Remote-first” narrows the audience, and that is the point.

Finance
-
Financial Analyst · FP&A, budgeting and forecasting · Manufacturing and supply chain
Standard finance search terms, then the industry knowledge that sets this analyst apart.

“Former, now” explains the change in two words and points straight to proof.
-

It names the target role so it shows up in the right searches, without pretending the move has already happened.
-
Military Veteran · Logistics and team leadership · Transitioning to supply chain management
Military experience, translated into the civilian terms recruiters search for.
How to adapt an example
Pick by structure, not by job title. A nurse can borrow a sales headline’s shape if that shape fits what she wants to say.
Then work through it in this order:
- Replace the title with the one people actually search for. Look at job postings for your target role and use the most common wording.
- Swap in one true result: a number, a scope, a credential or a project. No number? Team size or number of clients works.
- Change the audience to the industry or customer you serve, or want to serve next.
- Read it out loud. If part of it sounds like a slogan, cut that part and keep the facts.
- Look at the start. In comments and search, only the first part of a headline may show, so lead with the words that matter most.
If you are actively job hunting, the job seeker headline guide covers whether to say so and how.
Common mistakes
- Copying an example word for word. The numbers and company names above are invented. Leaving them in is easy to spot and awkward to explain in an interview.
- Stacking buzzwords. “Visionary, results-driven, passionate leader” says nothing a reader can check. One fact beats three adjectives.
- Using an internal title. “Revenue Ninja” or “Client Happiness Hero” will not match anything people search for.
- Listing every skill. Pick the three that matter most for the roles or clients you want.
- Forgetting to update it. “Seeking internships” two years into a full-time job sends the wrong signal.
