LinkedIn Banner Maker

Free Runs in your browser No sign-up

The banner is the widest strip on your profile, and most people leave it blank or stock. Write one line about what you do, pick your colors, and download a 1584 × 396 PNG with the text kept away from your profile photo.

The dashed arc shows roughly where your profile photo covers the banner on desktop. It is not included in the download.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

One line, one color, one action

Say what you do in one line, use one main color from your brand, and if you like, add one action such as "DM me" or a web address. Anything more turns into clutter at banner size.

Tips that work

  • Do keep text clear of the lower left, where your photo sits on desktop.
  • Do check the banner on your phone right after you upload it.
  • Do pick colors with strong contrast between text and background.
  • Don't fill the banner with small text nobody can read.
  • Don't repeat your headline word for word; the banner should add something.
  • Don't put text behind a busy photo.

Where the banner sits, and why text gets covered

The maker exports at 1584 × 396 pixels, the size LinkedIn recommends for personal profile backgrounds. On desktop your round profile photo overlaps the lower left of the banner. On mobile the image is cropped differently and the sides can disappear. The safest area for text is the right half and the middle.

Turn on the photo guide to see roughly where your photo will land. It is only a guide and never appears in the download. After uploading, look at your profile on a laptop and on your phone, and shorten or move the text if anything is hidden.

Treat it like a sign, not a resume

The banner is the first and largest visual on your profile. Next to your photo and headline it sets the tone before anyone reads your experience. A blank background wastes that space. One clear line about your work turns it into a second headline.

Choose the single thing you want visitors to remember. That might be the problem you solve, the roles you are hiring for or the kind of job you want next. If you catch yourself listing four services, pick the one that brings in most of your work and leave the rest for the About section.

A tidy banner in consistent colors also shows that you take your profile seriously. That matters to recruiters, buyers and anyone deciding whether to connect.

Picking colors and type that read on a phone

Large type on a solid color holds up even on a small screen. Dark text on a light background, or light text on a dark one, is the safe choice. Mid-tone on mid-tone tends to blur together once LinkedIn compresses the image.

If you have brand colors, use the main one as the background and keep the second for a small accent. If you do not, a deep navy, a dark green or a soft off-white all work with most profile photos. Avoid bright red behind text; it is tiring to read.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What size is a LinkedIn banner?

The recommended size for a personal profile background is 1584 × 396 pixels, which is what this maker exports.

Why is my banner text covered on LinkedIn?

Your profile photo overlaps the lower left on desktop, and mobile crops the sides. Keep text on the right or in the center.

What file format should I upload?

PNG works well for text and solid colors, which is why the maker downloads a PNG.

Can I add my logo or a photo?

Not in this version. You can open the downloaded banner in any image editor and add a logo before uploading.

Is anything uploaded to your server?

No. The banner is drawn in your browser and downloaded straight to your device.

How do I change my LinkedIn banner?

Open your profile, select the camera or edit icon on the background, upload the PNG, adjust the crop and save.

Should my banner match my company page?

It can, if you work there and want to support the brand. Many people prefer a line about their own role, since the banner sits on a personal profile.
